    In Japan, every region offers a delightful array of savory and sweets, which we lovingly call 'Otakara' which means treasure in Japanese. These culinary creations are handcrafted with great care. We take great pride in our visits to local confectioner, where we endeavor not only to savor the delectable treats but also to immerse ourselves in the rich tapestry of confectionery history and culture. Our intention is to savoring the flavors while appreciating the dedication of the artisans and the local context that makes each treat special.
  • What do I get in Otakara box?
    You will find 15-20 items inside the Otakara box, all of them are authentic Japanese sweets, snacks, tea, and more from local makers in Japan.
  • What is the difference between "Otakara Box" and the "Otakara Gift Box"
    The distinction between the "Otakara Box" and the "Otakara Gift Box" lies in their packaging. Both boxes contain the same snacks and are shipped using the same methods, but they differ in their presentation. Otakara Box: Standard packaging. Designed for personal use or subscription. Suitable for those who want to enjoy the snacks themselves. Priced at $37.5 plus shipping. Otakara Gift Box: Special packaging in a traditional wooden box called "Kiribako." Intended for gift-giving purposes. Ideal for those who want to send a unique and aesthetically pleasing gift to someone. Priced at $43.5 plus shipping. In summary, while the content of the boxes is the same, the Otakara Gift Box offers an enhanced presentation in a traditional wooden box, making it a thoughtful and visually appealing option for gifting.
  • Do you have a vegan-only or halal-only box options?
    We currently don't have vegan-only or halal-only Otakara box options. We have several vegetarian-friendly items inside the box and have outlined items with milk or egg. But not everything in the box is vegetarian friendly.
  • Do you provide allergy information or offer a custom box to fit my dietary restrictions?
    You can find the common allergen information for the box items in the booklet provided in every Otakara box. However, the information is not comprehensive and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that every item is non-allergenic for everyone. We recommend that you inquire about a customized Otakara box to see if we can provide a special box tailored to your specific needs.
  • When does my box ship and how long will it take to arrive?
    After the order is placed, your box is promptly prepared and packed, typically within 3-5 business days, to be handed over to the delivery courier. The estimated delivery time with JapanPost Priority Shipping: 14-28 days

  • My Otakara box is not arriving.
    All boxes will be dispatched through a third-party carrier. If you opt for a shipping method without tracking and your order is misplaced during transit, regrettably, we cannot provide a refund or a replacement, as the status and location of the package are beyond our control. You would be eligible for a reshipment if the carrier and our team confirm that your order has been returned to our warehouse. Following the return confirmation, we can proceed with reshipping your order. Please be aware that you will be required to cover the reshipping fee. We recommend monitoring your tracking progress regularly and staying in contact with the local post office to prevent the box from being returned to us.
  • Can you ship to Japan?
    Regrettably, it's not possible for us to deliver your box to Japan, even if you opt for a gift plan and input a Japanese address later. Should you require assistance in altering the address for the gift plan, please reach out to our support team.
  • Does the shipping fee cover custom fee and tax?
    Please double-check your country's customs regulations, as each country has different rules regarding customs fees and taxes. If you are charged any customs fees or taxes, we are not responsible for covering them. Please be aware that we do not have control over import taxes, as they are charged by your local government.
  • What payment methods can I use?
    We currently accept payments through all major credit cards. All payments are taken through our secure checkout and we never share any of your details with third-parties.
